THE WRITING TYPE
This weekly workshop takes place every Tuesday at The Albatross, Totnes and is charged on a pay-what-you-can basis.
Over the course of six months, we cover the basic tenets and architecture of plays, including workshops on character, dialogue, and structure. The sessions consist of a range of practical exercises, with continual sharing and feedback of work. Between weeks, set plays are handed out to read and discuss.
Participants come from various backgrounds and experiences. At the end of the course, they’ll experience a staged reading of their plays by professional actors at the Barrel House Ballroom.

THE ACTING TYPE
From mid 2023 we will have a range of acting workshops, from an Introduction to Acting for those who are keen to start, to an Acting Lab, where more experienced actors can hone their skills, practice their craft and push their limits, and an Improvisation class, where a range of improvisation skills and exercises are explored.
We also intend to offer one-off workshops exploring a range of techniques with visiting practitioners, drawing on local talent and expertise.

THE MAKING TYPE
Starting later in 2023, we want to draw together a group of 16-25-year-olds to explore and engage with all the roles that are part of the theatre-making process. Participants will work as a company towards creating an original piece of theatre. If you fit the age but are not sure if you fit ‘a theatre company’, get in touch. You could act, write, design, tech, compose… What should draw you in is contributing to a piece of theatre in any capacity that talks of, and to, being a young adult today.

THE YOUNG TYPE
In the summer of 2023, we will start regular drama workshops for children and young people from aged 8.
Meeting weekly, our two groups (8-11-year-olds and 12-15-year-olds) will explore a range of acting techniques and theatre-making approaches. Sessions are warm, playful and responsive to the participants. The workshops will lead to termly sharings and performances.
